Master Aaron Khor

From the age of five, Master Aaron Khor has been practising the martial arts form of Tai Chi. He was first introduced to the combat and self-defence techniques by his father, Grandmaster Gary Khor, the founder of the Australian Academy of Tai Chi and Qigong/澳大利亚太极气功学院 (Chinese martial arts of Wushu, Tai Chi and Qigong). He received intensive training from Taoist masters in the Wudang Mountains, Tian Meng Mountains and Bei Jing Bai Yun Guan Monastery of China in Advanced Tai Chi, Taoist Chi Kung, Sword, Buddha’s Whisk, Eight Trigram martial art, as well as meditations, detoxification and health diets. His skills include Taoist Chi Kung, Five Animal Frolics, Praying Mantis, Long Fist and many more.

Master Aaron recently completed his Health Science degree at the University of Western Sydney and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of Technology, Sydney. Pursuing his career and passion for health, he has dedicated his time and effort into exploring more about the ancient art of Tai Chi. With his degree and martial arts background, Aaron is currently doing research on the biomechanics of human movements and medical applications for the ageing population of Australian citizens. Introducing the art of Tai Chi to the younger generation is one of his future goals as it teaches children about healthy and mindful living.

Master Aaron has conducted numerous classes, seminars and workshops with Grandmaster Gary Khor and Senior Master Rod Ferguson (specialist in falls prevention). He is currently teaching classes in Sydney, as well as conducting training for physiotherapists, psychologists and other health professionals. In addition, Master Aaron has co-produced a number of books and instructional DVDs with Grandmaster Gary Khor.

This includes:

- Eight Golden Brocades (Toaist Yoga Qigong)
- Ba Gua (Eight Trigrams - Cancer Therapy)
- Wu Dang Sword
- Bursh/Horse Tail Whip (Buddha's Whisk)

The Australian Academy of Tai Chi & Qi Gong offers not just Tai Chi in their teachings. Instead, the Academy integrates both Western Medicine with the understanding of the Human Bodies Biomechanics and Feng Shui and Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities such as Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Gua Sha and Cupping.

Master Aaron Khor combines both Tai Chi and Chinese Medicine together in helping his patients and students with their healing processes and maintenance of general health. He completed his training in Traditional Chinese Medicine in China with the Cheng Du University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed his degree at the University of Technology Sydney.

Many people only see Tai Chi as an exercise for the elderly and practiced in China. However, Tai Chi is the exercise that is combined with the healing process of Chinese Medicine. In another sense, it is the physiotherapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The non-strenous movements in Tai Chi is what enables the body to heal properly and slowly by recognising the areas of pain whilst enhancing the free flow of blood to reach all areas and extremities in the human body. The intensity of the exercise can be increased depending on the way the movement is performed.

As Tai Chi is the physiotherapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Both disciplines look at cultivating, nourishing and healing Qi (energy/life force) and Blood in the human body. In Chinese Medicine the use of herbal medicine or acupuncture gives a command to direct the flow of Qi and release the muscle tension along the meridians of the human body.

"When there is free flow of blood there is no pain, when there is pain there is no free flow of blood".
